Egerton C. E. Primary School

A practising artist was invited into Egerton C. E. Primary School, Kent, to work with both Key Stage 1 (5-8 years) and Key Stage 2 (8-11 years) pupils.

After introducing 'The Marquise de Seignelay and Two of her Sons' to the groups she demonstrated a technique of scratching a design into pastels, called sgrafitto.

Every pupil from the school collaborated in the making of two large final pictures. These were displayed in the school hall as part of a wider exhibition of cross-curricular work inspired by the original painting.
