Barnett Wood Infant School, Surrey

5 and 6 year-olds

The children wanted to learn more about Tobit's blindness, which led them to consider the lives of blind or partially sighted people today. Together, we investigated the Guide Dogs website. We discovered we could sponsor Kasper, an adorable guide dog puppy. The children were keen to raise money for this cause and decided to organise a school cake sale. They were actively involved in all aspects - from advertising to buying dog and bone cookie cutters.

On the day of the cake sale, we invited a local man to visit us with his guide dog, Oscar. The children were fascinated to discover how much Oscar did to enable the man to live with greater independence.
