Local History: a Victorian seaside town

Colneis Junior School

After looking at Degas's 'Beach Scene', pupils, from Colneis Junior School in Felixstowe began to investigate how their own seaside town had changed over the last hundred years.

They interviewed people from their local community and researched what their own beach might have been like in the 19th century. They made first-hand observational drawings of the old huts on their beach and created fictional Victorian characters, looking at fashions, events and attitudes from the era.
