Sky, sea and sand

Using drawings made from real shells, children from the extra-curricular art club at Wisborough Green Primary School created their own ceramic beach. A cross-section of Degas's 'Beach Scene' was chosen which included sky, sea and sand. The pupils carefully made tiles which represented the different qualities of these. For example, the sea and the beach are painted with a shiny glaze, making it look as though the sea has just washed over the shore.
